Muslim Pro sharing users' data with Facebook? This allegation is not true.
We do not intentionally share any information with Facebook nor with any other partner but we use two Facebook SDKs (Software Development Kits) for authentication (so that users can login with a Facebook account) and advertising (to show ads from the Facebook Audience Network).
But, how does it works?
Any app developer wishing to offer the Facebook login and Facebook ads functionalities need to implement these tools provided by Facebook. This is not limited to Muslim Pro and the other few apps mentioned by the security research but apply to hundreds of thousands other apps on the store.
How to protect your data from Online Snoopers?
Unfortunately, Facebook SDK's are not open sourced but pre-compiled binaries that we have to include in our app if we want to offer the Facebook Login and show ads.
We have zero control nor transparency over what the SDK actually does and it is possible that Facebook uses that SDK to collect additional data about your device. Please note that if you have a Facebook account and already use the Facebook app on your device, it is likely that Facebook already collects all of these and much more.
The security researcher should have made it clear that anyone using these Facebook SDKs will expose their app to the possibility of Facebook collecting other data such as battery usage, disk space, device brand and model, etc. There is unfortunately nothing we can do about it unless Facebook decides to change this behaviour in their SDK.
Protecting our users’ privacy is our utmost priority as per mentioned in our Privacy Policy:
